CERTIFIED TRAINING PROGRAMS
Adopt-A-StreamSavannah Riverkeeper regularly holds Adopt-a-Stream training sessions and manages information for this State of Georgia volunteer monitoring program. Under Dr. Frank Carl, a retired biochemist and former Riverkeeper, citizens are taught how to keep a watchful eye on their creek, stream, wetland, or coastline. Biological, chemical and bacterial information can be collected and logged into the main database. This data provides significant information for organizations and businesses interested in the quality of their waterways.

Get the Dirt OutSavannah Riverkeeper routinely offers educational workshops designed to educate citizens, developers and local governments about Georgia General Construction Stormwater Permits. Sedimentation, the accumulation of dirt and debris, is one of the main threats to our local waterways. Through best-management practices- many violations can be avoided.

Upcoming Adopt-A-Stream Workshops
Workshops designed to train new volunteers will be held at the Cotton Room at Enterprise Mill. The workshops will include a biological evaluation of stream health, a chemical assessment of the stream, and the determination of bacterial contamination in the stream. Workshops include hands on experience. Separate certifications for biological, chemical and bacterial monitoring are available after taking three short tests. Certification (passing the tests) allows you to enter data into the state database.
Wear boots (waders preferable) if you have them. You will have the opportunity to get in the water at Rae's Creek. Old sneakers are acceptable during warmer months. Waders are available to borrow; they all leak from repeated use, but at least your feet stay warmer. Lunch is not provided; please bring a bag lunch or money to purchase.
The next workshop will be held on: Chemical and Bacterial Evaluation – Saturday April 16, 2016 from 9:00 to 4:00. Enterprise Mill is located at 1450 Greene St, Augusta, Ga. 30901. The Cotton Room at Enterprise Mill is across the driveway from the Augusta Canal Museum. Use the entrance to Enterprise Mill nearest 15th St. and park in the parking lot on the corner of 15th and Greene. Workshops are free but require registration. To register, email Frank Carl at [email protected]. For more information on SRK's certified training programs, contact [email protected].
