Located along the Broad River (a tributary if the Savannah), BRVF continues to side-step GA EPD regulation. Each week, BRVF dumps an estimated 30 tractor trailer loads of waste to its 800 acres of land along the Broad River. This waste includes livestock excrement, animal parts and grease- and rains wash the waste directly into the Savannah River. In addition, neighboring residents have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the overwhelming stench emitting from BRVF. For years, BRVF’s owner has managed to run his business without the proper permit for controlling disposable waste.
SRK will continue to monitor the situation at BRVF and pressure the GA EPD to conduct an thorough investigation into the farm’s operations, polutants, and stormwater discharge.
